Post Blepharoplasty,
Rhytidectomy or Brow Lift

Sleep with your head elevated for the first week. This helps prevent swelling.

Keep your activity at a minimum for the first two weeks. After that time, if Dr. Westreich has cleared you, you may resume all normal exercise routines and strenuous activities.

Swelling may persist for 1-2 weeks in all surgery. This will resolve with time. You should use ice for the first 48 hours on your operative site. A usual routine is 30 minutes every 2 hours while awake. This will help reduce bruising and swelling.

You may use cosmetics at any time after the surgery except over incision sites. Incision sites should be kept free of material for at least 7 days. Twice daily application of antibiotic cream on the suture lines should be done during that time period. Report any increased pain or redness to Dr. Westreich immediately.

After 2 weeks from the surgery, you may fly at any time.

If blepharoplasty was performed, you should do squinting exercises as instructed.

If rhytidectomy was performed, you should wear any elastic garments that Dr. Westreich has suggested. Use for 24 hours is manditory for the first 5-7 days. After that time, you may wear it when home or sleeping, but remove it when going out.
