![]() | Rhinoplasty: The First 48-72 Hours |
|
Expect some pain and discomfort. Swelling of the eyelids may occur. We recommend using ice on both eyes (avoiding pressure on the nose) for 48 hours after your surgery. While awake, use the ice packs for 30 minutes every 2 hours. This will help to reduce the amount of swelling during the post-operative period. You may have light packing in your nose for 24 to 48 hours. Expect mild discomfort during this time (like a really bad cold) but remember that the packing will be out quickly. Sleep on your back with your head elevated in order to prevent swelling. Take the medications prescribed to your for pain and nausea: There are no extra points for being a martyr. Call Dr. Westreich if you experience excessive bleeding. Next: The First Week and Beyond... Back to main patients page. |
